Intern, Development
Safia Malik is a third-year Pre-Law, Political Science undergraduate student at the University of California, Riverside, studying to pursue a career as an immigration lawyer.
She credits her parents' values of justice and empathy for planting the roots for her passion for serving her community. These values remained constant in her life, whether her family lived on the West Coast or the East Coast. These values laid the foundation for the justice-seeking work that Safia continues to be passionate about and hopes to carry throughout her career and lifetime.
While at Pasadena City College, she served as the President of the Anti-War club, which aimed to serve and educate the community in any and all appropriate ways. Through her presidency, she understood the importance of making knowledge and resources accessible to benefit the people it would affect the most.
She is excited to start interning at the IRC and do the work she is most passionate about, and learn from the incredible work that is done firsthand at the IRC.
