Volunteers Transform Legal Offices

This past Saturday the development team led a motivated group of volunteers in transforming two of our legal offices on site. Last year the IRC received a grant from the Durfee Foundation to aid in trauma informed care for clients and self care for the IRC employees. One initiative that this grant was used for is the purchase of new carpet for the legal offices. The thought process behind this was to make the legal offices feel as comfortable and safe as possible for clients who may be nervous and may need to discuss traumatic or stressful events in their lives.
The day started bright and early at 10am, and our volunteers jumped right in after a demonstration from Jean Grant, Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships, on how to assemble the carpet squares. We set out to install the carpet in just one office and ended up finishing two offices! Our wonderful team of volunteers was made up of friends from multiple circles, neighbors, and youth volunteers. We all collaborated with respect and humility and accomplished this amazing goal of office enhancement. Thank you to Saturday’s volunteers for making our clients’ office experience more comfortable for years to come.
